.NET Programmer is like working in McDonald Kitchen.. How about ABAPer?

I got this article http://blog.expensify.com/2011/03/25/ceo-friday-why-we-dont-hire-net-programmers/ from @thanr on Twitter. After I finished reading it, I found that the topic of my today’s blog is really touch my heart and another question was up into my mind. How about ABAPer? Isn’t it similar to .NET Programmer?

In my whole life, I used to code .NET only a month while I was an intern student at KPMG Thailand. That’s was my first time to code more than 1000 lines 555+ However, that’s not the amazing story if compare with my today’s life :( To work with a piece of code which contained more than 3000-5000 is so simple – -”

Err… how come of this lines in code? Let’s continue with the comparison between .NET Programmer and ABAPer. So, yeah.. in ABAP/4, we have a popup keyword (but sometimes I prefer to code it with notepad LOL). We have very good editor like SE38 and SE80. What else? In dialog editor (I’ve no experience with it but I used to read some tutorial), we have a tool to ‘drag and drop’ and add more attribute like .NET. However, to create a form, smartforms is not smart enough if compare with crystal report. How about the Business Process Concept? ABAP need to understand many kinds of business part such as Sales and Distribution, Material Management, Financial Accounting, etc. How about .NET Programmer? Most user of .NET are the company, am I right? To be honest, I’ve rarely used Microsoft Product. So, I don’t know what’s the really practical in the real life of .NET Programmer but I just want to know that… ABAPer is like working in McDonald Kitchen or not…?
